Our Sudanese refugee family, the Komi's, were so happy to move into their apartment in Roxbury on Sept. 5. Members of the Collaborative who had worked hard to get the apartment ready and support them in many ways accompanied them to introduce them to their new home. They appreciated the many furnishings that parishioners provided, and the items that filled their cabinets, bedrooms, and bathroom. They are definitely feeling the love that surrounds them from our Collaborative.
Other highlights this past week included an orientation to the library; a ride on the T to the Public Gardens with a swan boat ride; a trip on a beautiful late summer day to Walden Pond, with beach gear and picnic; lots of soccer for Paul in the area fields, playground trips for the little guys Mansy and Nofak, and more good cooking by Huda and Mujahid. Paul and Huda are working hard on their English; they really are coming along. Mujahid also knows quite a bit and is communicating a lot more in English.
We want to thank everyone who has contributed so much to helping us resettle this very dear family. Whether it has been through items for their apartment, time spent with them, meals cooked for them, or contributions to our Refugee Ministry Fund, they have been blessed by your generosity.
