Lord Jesus, you hung upon the wood of the Cross, uniting yourself to every possible human suffering and forgiving every possible sin.
We pray that, by your infinite mercy, you bring great comfort and consolation to all those who have suffered abuse from clergy; and strengthen in faith all those who have been scandalized by these egregious offenses.
Lord Jesus, we suffer with you, we grieve with you, we agonize with you, and we share in the betrayal you experienced.
For all those who have been hurt by these unspeakable crimes and sickening actions, grant that they would never leave you, O Jesus.
Give them the courage to cling to you in their woundedness and to find strength to forgive through the power of your cross.
During this great moment of suffering within the Church, give your beloved people the light of your Holy Spirit, that we may be filled with hope and work for a deep renewal and purification of your Church.
We ask this through the maternal Heart of Mary, our Mother, who faithfully stayed by your cross. Like her, may we always remain hopeful of the ultimate victories you accomplish through suffering.
