Good news! Catholic Charities has informed our collaborative that we will be welcoming a refugee family in a few weeks. They arrive on August 22nd. They are a family of five: parents, and sons ages of 13, 5, and 1. They are from the Sudan, fleeing the violence of civil war as well as drought and famine.
Our greatest need now is housing. We are looking for an apartment with two bedrooms, with a maximum rent of $1,700, ideally near public transportation. Because of the young age of two of the children, the apartment must be de-leaded or have no lead paint. We are looking primarily in Newton, Watertown, Waltham, Brighton, West Roxbury, but we are open to other locations.
