A moving and beautiful new film, “The Letter: A Message for Our Earth” documents the invitation of Pope Francis to five individuals from diverse circumstances around the world to come to Rome and dialogue with him. These people, who represent the poor, the indigenous, youth, and wildlife, talk with the Pope about their concerns for the Earth and those who are most affected by climate change and environmental degradation, and the Pope responds to them with his wisdom and spiritual insight. The film is jointly produced by the Laudato Si Movement, the Vatican, and the award-winning Off the Fence Productions.
Pope Francis has given the world his vision of how we must care for the Earth in his 2015 encyclical letter, “Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home,” which he addressed to every person on the planet. May 21-27 is Laudato Si Week, the eighth anniversary of the letter.
Here in the SHOL Collaborative, our Pax Christi Newton chapter invites you to come together and view “The Letter” on Sunday, May 21, 3-5 p.m. in the lower church of Sacred Heart. The program will include prayer, viewing of the 80-minute film, and group discussion.
