The SHOL Newton Racial Justice Ministry is devoted to enhancing the dignity of all human beings by learning about and advocating for fairness in education, housing, healthcare, employment, and the legal system. Presentations and discussions have led to parishioners recommending books, films, and articles to further our understanding of inequities. Some of these have included the books White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide and Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights, the film “American Fiction”, the Oscar-nominated documentary “The Barber of Little Rock”, the NPR “Fresh Air” interview on Affirmative Action, and various Boston Globe articles on inequities in housing and healthcare, affirmative action in education and business, and reparation.
Please join us on Monday, April 8, at 7:30pm for our next Zoom Gathering as we explore the topics of affirmative action, criminal justice, and housing disparities. To obtain further information and the Zoom Link, please contact to Lija at [email protected]
