Becoming the caretaker of someone in your life is nothing any of us specifically planned for, yet we find ourselves in the role. It is a role of service. It involves sacrifice. It involves honing a new set of skills. It involves patience, and it involves love.
There is a beautiful song that describes this role we find ourselves in and our response to these new demands. It is called “The Servant Song” by Richard Gillard. We are pilgrims on a journey, We are travelers on the road. We are here to help each other, Walk the mile and share the load.
In listening to the needs of those who have expressed an interest in getting together, we know that this group will be guided by our faith...for St. Paul tells us, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” After asking Christ for help, we can turn to each other for friendship and support. Some of the topics request ed include: how can I ask for help; how can I learn to accept help; how do I process the grief I am feeling; how can I make the time to take care of myself; what tips do you have to navigate the unknown; how can we be the support to each other?
If this invitation speaks to a need in your life, join us Thursday afternoon, October 10, at 1:00pm for a 90-minute gathering in the Colella Room at Our Lady’s Parish Office. If you are interested but are unable to attend this meeting please contact Ginny Arpino at [email protected].
