A group that includes several SHOL Pax Christi parishioners brought a virtual forum, “Building a World Without Nuclear Weapons,” to over 2,000 people last year. The group now has a new name and a timely new initiative. The name is the Pax Christi New England Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (PCAN).
Their timely initiative coincides with this Jubilee Year of Hope, and the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan. PCAN has created a survey with the support of the Vatican Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development. The survey looks at North Americans’ thoughts, feelings, and work on the issue of nuclear weapons. The results will be shared with the Dicastery, which has been working with PCAN on the planning for the survey.
The survey is open to all, though PCAN hopes that as many Catholics as possible will take it, so that the Dicastery can have a picture of how Catholics think and feel and act on the issue. The deadline for responding is April 17, but PCAN urges you to complete it earlier rather than later. The survey can be reached at this web address: https://paxchristima.org/pcannuclear-weapons-survey-spring2025/
It takes about 5-20 minutes to complete the survey. We hope you will participate in this important effort. SHOL Pax Christi
