As we announced at last Sunday’s Mass, I have been asked by Cardinal Sean to begin a new assignment on September 1 at St. Jude Parish in Waltham, where I will replace the pastor who recently retired. This means that, unfortunately, I will have to end my time in Newton earlier than I had expected. I would like to thank all of you for all of your prayers and support, as well as your example, over the last two years and several months. I have greatly enjoyed my time in Newton, and have learned a lot from all the priests, staff, volunteers, and parishioners who make Our Lady and Sacred Heart Parishes such a grace-filled place. I ask your prayers as I prepare for my new assignment over the next few weeks and take on the challenge of being the administrator of a parish for the first time in September. I know that my time here has helped me prepare for this next chapter in my journey with God, and
I am so grateful to the Cardinal for giving me my time in Newton and for having confidence in me to take on a parish by myself. I am filled with many emotions right now as I am sad to be leaving but excited by what God has in store for me, but most of all I am filled with gratitude towards all of you and towards Christ, whose love has brought us all together.
For those who can attend, there will be a farewell reception at Our Lady Parish after the 6pm Mass on Sunday, September 9. I am hoping to have an opportunity to express my gratitude to many of you there.
