A very nice apartment has been secured for the family of five from Sudan, the parents and three sons ages, 13, 5, and 1, who will arrive here on August 22nd. It is in Roxbury, and the landlord is very happy to rent to refugees. The location is ideal, close to good public transportation and the father’s sister who lives in Dorchester. We’ve gathered just about all the furniture and household goods they will need to set up their new home.
This family faced civil war and persecution as Christians in Sudan, and after fleeing Sudan have been living in very poor conditions in Egypt for several years awaiting resettlement as refugees. They will need a lot of support and assistance. Catholic Charities will coordinate job search assistance, ESL classes, health care, and school enrollment.
